Ready for some fall fun?

The Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first downtown fall festival Oct. 29, from 5-8 p.m. Fallfest will be hosted in conjunction with the Fifth Friday Artwalk and will replace the annual “Boo on the Bricks” event.

Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce President Nancy Runge said the new event will allow more businesses to participate in the downtown celebration and at the same time will provide a variety of new activities for families.

“We have had feedback from some of the businesses about Boo on the Bricks [and] we were going to have less participation,” she said. “We decided to try something new that would benefit families as well as promote local businesses.”

Fallfest will include free game booths for children only, entertainment, music and food. Pauls Valley National Bank is sponsoring DJ Burk Ozbirn and Creative Magic Productions will provide face painting, balloon animals and magic. Street entertainer Orange Rex will make an appearance as well.

There will be no costume contest this year, but individuals are still encouraged to dress up.

“This will be a very family-friendly, safe event,” Runge said. “We are trying to improve on what we have done in the past, not eliminate it. We are going to have games like witch’s hat ring toss, a duck pond, bean bag toss into a pumpkin or football, and much more. There will be candy, but there will also be prizes.”

Businesses that are interested in sponsoring a booth can contact the Chamber at 405- 238-6491. There are various sponsorship levels, including spots available on the “Witch’s Wheel of Wonder” prize wheel.

“I have seen so much excitement from the business community. I have been getting phone calls from people wanting to be a part of Fallfest,” Runge said. “I think this event will continue to grow and may be an all-day festival in the future. I hope the community will embrace it as well. In the end, this is for the kids.”
