Maysville residents will go to the polls July 11 to decide a proposition to grant a franchise to Oklahoma Gas and Electric giving the company the right to produce, transmit and distribute electricity within the town. The franchise would also give OG&E the right to construct, maintain and operate a system of poles, wires, conduits and other facilities and equipment on public grounds, streets and alleys. If approved, the 25-year agreement will renew a similar franchise agreement that is set to expire and will allow OG&E to provide compensation to the town in exchange for the franchise.

Voters who are unable to make it to the polls on election day can participate in early voting at the Garvin County Election Board office, 201 W. Grant in Pauls Valley, Thursday and Friday, July 6-7, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Garvin County Election Board Secretary Gayla Dean reminds voters that early voting is not available at polling locations.

“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted through the State Election Board—from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on election day or who want to avoid long lines,” Dean said.

Regular polling places in Maysville will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day.
